A spray foam walkthrough is a chance to define the work before you approve a quote. The conversation should cover which spaces need insulation, how the installer will reach them, what needs to be protected, and how the installation will fit around the people who use the building.
Before the visit
List the rooms that feel uncomfortable, any leaks or dampness you have noticed, and renovations you are planning. Set aside photos of exposed framing if walls have already been closed. In an occupied property, share access restrictions and any scheduling needs at the start.
During the walkthrough
Look at the surfaces proposed for insulation and discuss how the area will be prepared. Ask why the product suits each location, what thickness and R-value are proposed, and how the work handles transitions between walls, floors, or the roof. If existing materials or moisture require separate work, ask for it to be identified in the scope.
Discuss ventilation and when you can return
Ask how the installer will isolate and ventilate the area, how occupants and pets will be kept away, and who will confirm that re-entry conditions have been met. The time can vary with the product and job conditions. Ask for the manufacturer’s instructions and the job-specific plan in writing.
Compare the written proposals
A useful proposal identifies surfaces and exclusions, product and thickness, access and prep, and any required protective finish. If two quotes differ, compare what each includes before comparing the total. Use the request form to tell us the building type, the areas you want evaluated, and your project schedule.
